The High-Tech Gadgets Improve The Quality of Life of Older People

Research has bases in Newcastle, Aberdeen and Nottingham, and is directed by Professor Paul Watson, Director of the North East Regional e-Science Centre, one of the research centers that depend on the School of Computing Science at the University of Newcastle.
According to a report published in The Journal and a press release of that university, the program is funded by the British government, as part of an ambitious general who has the support of companies Microsoft, IBM and Philips and whose central purpose the use of new technology to improve the quality of human life at all stages of their existence.
The idea is to ensure the inclusion of all people on digital life, especially children, elderly and disabled, who are the neediest. In this context, the research conducted by Watson develops a basic theme for the elderly. Worth mentioning that according to statistics, by 2050 there will be more people over 65 years under 16 in the UK.
In order to meet the needs of older people, the devices show created a simple design and an intuitive interface, as for example in GPS location technology designed to maintain independence in the mobility of elderly people with varying degrees of dementia .

Android Market: New on the Dashboard developer
0Two small innovations have appeared recently on the Dashboard (sort of dashboard) developers who offer their applications on the Android Market.
First, a small table summarizing the number of voting by type of note. This allows you to quickly visualize the proportion of users (mis) happy, without having to make an inventory of all the comments. Handy when the application is downloaded several hundred copies.

How to display a list of images in Android?
One of the first problems encountered when developing an Android application that uses images to a remote server, is how to manage their viewing and downloading without slowing down navigation.
The Android Developers Blog has published a note, written by Gilles Debunne, explaining in detail how to proceed. The principle is to use the multithreading downloading images asynchronously so as not to slow the scrolling list, then display the images once they are completely downloaded.
In practice, several problems arise, for example, there is no need to download 2 times the same image if it is to be displayed 2 times in the application must also be able to cancel a download if it becomes useless. The application is designed to run on Froyo, but the practices described can easily be adapted to run on devices with Android 1.5.
