Canon Powershot S95

The s95 shows its revised four-star rating. Under the new criteria in place, no zoom in video is off for the fifth star.

A year after the resurrection of the S series, which included experts once the compact stylish Canon, here is a new evolution with the PowerShot S95. A smooth evolution, but some interesting improvements (HD video, further customizations .) for a device a promising career but a bit hidden in the shadow of the G series. We cannot say the opposite: the S95 looks like a twin to its predecessor, the S90. The case is identical, 7.6 cm screen of 460 000 points too, and found the course great couple ring before – wheel, the latter being located around the rear clover.

We therefore seek changes in detail: further customizations (see box) or . reversing switch and button “Func Ring”: A small thing that changes everything, as we railed against the difficulty of turning on the camera after accidentally pressed instead of one another!

Overall, there is so little to criticize: it’s a very nice ergonomic success, and we can only hope to see a dial or a ring in front of the G11′s replacement in time.

Reactivity

Overall, the S95 is nice to work: the boot is not too surprisingly, the autofocus is reasonably fast, the wait between photos is not too long, but . But others are more simply. A developed under the second no longer a criterion of excellence, with some faring half the time. (more…)
