A few days before the launch of the beta Blekko invades the web today, following this Techcrunch article and video interview of the two founding members: Mark Markson and Rich Skrenta (former CEO of Topix and Dmoz Open Directory Project ) I was interested in the project since its birth blekko is therefore with great interest that I watched the demo produced by Techcrunch and I was seduced by what I saw. I am looking forward to testing this new search engine here are some explanations.
What is Blekko?
Blekko is a search engine “full web”. Blekko engineers know they can not beat Google or the size of its index (billions of pages) or the speed of obtaining results. They therefore differ in another way, by giving users tools to refine the results and perform other types of research. Blekko also provides access to algorithms used to determine the relevance of the results.
Blekko results may not be more relevant than Google or Bing, but queries can be refined by the use of “slashtags. These tools as / news / or date and / or amazon or any other combination filters are based on based on what one seeks. (more…)
